Cara G. Campbell. Interning with PTC Productions

This internship program exposed me to the ins and outs of all aspects of producing a high energy, action packed dance convention – from Registration, PR, Marketing, Event Coordination, and Production... I've seen and done it all! Their tours travel to numerous cities across the country – bringing our prestigious faculty to teach and inspire thousands of dancers!

A POWERFUL DANCE EVEN

The PULSE and Camp PULSE is an exciting weekend workshop for dancers ages 7+ featuring the top choreographers and instructors in the dance industry today. Their faculty can be seen on reality television shows (such as So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Got Talent, Shake It Up, and Victorious), directing the hottest music videos (Justin Bieber, Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez: to name a few) and tours for leading recording artists, as well as producing and choreographing for headlining movies, commercials, Broadway productions, and distinguished dance companies. Their goal is to educate and teach dancers in an inspiring environment.

This summer I had the opportunity to help prep for The PULSE On Tour New York City, the largest and last convention stop of the 2015-2016 season. I spent my time in the office editing promotional videos, designing signage, creating social media templates and helping out with a multitude of other projects leading up to the event.

On site the week of the event,  I was in charge of filming The 16th Annual Teacher Workshop. This event is presented by The PULSE On Tour and Broadway Dance Center every summer for teachers to recharge, refresh and get re-inspired for the coming dance season. WIth over 55 classes and seminars, I was given the duty alongside another production intern to film, edit and create a 2-3 minute recap video for each class in order to produce a DVD compiling all of the footage from the course of the weeks events. Once the DVD is complete, teachers can purchase it in order to refer back to the classes and seminars they attended or learn new information form the ones they missed. This was the largest and most important project I worked on.

The internship presented a plethora of incredible opportunities and experiences that I will carry with me for the remainder of my career in the production field. It helped me develope a professional work ethic and taught me how to lead and create my own projects while meeting hard deadlines. All together it was a summer I will never forget!
